Big Apple, Little Models

Ahhhh, Fashion Week in New York City.

“Well, I don’t eat anything and when I feel like I’m about to faint, I eat a cube of cheese. I’m just one stomach flu away from my goal weight.”

poleci

Sound familiar? While most of us know this quote as satirical humor from The Devil Wears Prada, those in the fashion business must recognize this as a global truth, and they must take it very seriously.

Check out this article from the New York Post (thanks, Josmari!).

Basically, a too-skinny model fainted at Jeffrey Chow’s Poleci show, which then led producers to bring her Coca-Cola cans and fruit.

I think it’s going to take a lot more than Coca-Cola and fruit to save these models.

The fact that they are fainting and being “force fed” by show producers is beyond terrible. You know there’s a serious problem when a Fashion Week producer thinks a model is too skinny.

I feel bad for these poor girls. I wonder what made them this sick? Was it the designers themselves? The other models? Their managers? The pressures of the media? Their parents?

And how early did her eating disorder start?

By finding the answers to these questions, we can help save millions of people across the planet and we will hopefully be able to catch these sicknesses before they progress.

One Response to “Big Apple, Little Models”

  1. We have to remember these girls start modeling as early as 16 years old. At that age they are easy to mold and believe what they hear. Its sad and they will have to go through a lot to break through their bad habit.
