College students: You are the target

According to an article in the Earth Times, research shows that “college triggers” can increase eating disorder risks.

These specific triggers include academic stress, athletic performance, fighting “The Freshman 15,” and binge drinking. Pertaining to binge drinkers, researchers are concerned that this group replaces their food calories with alcohol calories. This specific behavior is known as “drunkorexia.”

So college students beware, studies show that eating disorders can come with life change. Don’t succumb to the pressures, don’t think too hard about your body image, and ignore the myth of “The Freshman 15.” Despite the fact that you may be stressed out due to academic pressure, don’t skip any meals.
